Holika Holika: Baby Bloom Moisture BB Cream

I purchased this BB Cream over two months ago and was furiously testing it over the months xD. It comes in a really cute tube without pump dispenser (sadly) and 50 ml in it.

Steam Cream

This skincare item was originally invented and developed in Japan. It's a great product for people with dry and sensitive skin. Basically it's known as the ultimate moisturizer, at least in Asia. There was a huge hype about this product in 2006 or even earlier.

Steam is used during the producing process to fuse all the ingredients together to create a very lightweight but highly moisturizing product. Korea picked up this trend and created it's own versions of it, aiming to exceed the Japanese original which had some flaws like chemical preservations.

Nowadays you can choose from a wide range of products for every skin type by many companies. So if you are looking for something hydrating yet lightweight  and you haven't found a skincare product that meets your needs, I would highly recommend to give these steam creams a try.

Honey Black Sugar Scrub DIY

Since black sugar scrubs are popular these days I made my own version of it, referring to the ingredients lists of some products from Korea and Japan. I hope you'll give this one a try  (^▽^)

This scrub is suitable for dry, normal and oily skin. Don't be afraid of the olive oil, you won't use much and you don't leave it on your skin. Plus, the molecules of olive oil are too large to clogg your pores. If you have sensitive skin, substitute the lemon juice with tea (take a look at the notes below).

Please don't use this scrub if you are allergic to any of it's ingredients! Don't let it get into your eyes! Don't use it, if you have open wounds due to acne or else.

You need:
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tsp black sugar or any other sugar you have at hand
  1. Take a small bowl and mix all the ingredients together. Start by pouring the olive oil first, and then add the honey. This way your honey will come off the spoon easily because of the thin coat of oil left on it. Then add lemon juice and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Stirr again and now you have your homemade honey black sugar scrub.
  3. Please apply only to clean skin! Wet your hands and apply with circular motions. After one minute, rinse it off with lukewarm water. Patt your face dry and apply serum and/ or moisturizer.
After letting it sit for 10 minutes, the consistency will be more paste-like.
Notes:
  • The fruit acids, especially the vitamin c of the lemon will lower the ability of your skin to fight the damaging effects of UV-rays for some hours. So please use this scrub in the evening/ at night time only.
  • If you like, you can substitute the lemon juice with some tea, like green tea, peppermint tea (refreshing!) or chamomile tea.
  • You can also use this as a body scrub. Just change the measurements from teaspoons to tablespoons. It's also a nice lip scrub.
  • You will have plenty of product left, so store it in the fridge. It should be usable for about a week. If it starts to look/ smell/ behave funny any time earlier, there are probably funny things going on and you should discard it.

Korean Make-up Trend: CC Cream

Shortly after bb creams made it to the western markets, now there is a new, huge trend from Korea: cc creams.

cc cream by Elisha Coy, one of the most popular brands on the korean market

What does "cc" mean?
cc means "complete care". Regular bb creams aim at high coverage, while cc creams are about highly developed skin care.

What's the difference between bb and cc cream?
cc creams are not made to give you coverage if you have an troubled areas. It's main purpose is to moisturize, to give UV protection and to develope your skin elasticity. You can choose between cc creams for several skin types.

For what purposes should I use cc cream?
A cc cream should give you a healthy, moisturized and dewy finish. It's for a super natural look. They are also a nice alternative to make-up bases. cc creams work like a barrier between your skin and your make-up, keeping your skin healthy and pampered.
For best results mix cc with bb cream to get the high skin care effects combined with high coverage.
cc cream by Tony Moly

What are these "skin whitening properties"?
Almost every bb and cc cream contains "skin whitening properties", which are substances like vitamin c. They help to fade akne scars for example. These "skin whitening properties" do by no means at all, whiten your whole skin tone.

Catrice: Defining Blush 050 Apropos Apricot

I tested this blush, so now it is time to review it ;D

Before I purchased this one I already had one of this series and was more than satisfied with it because they are longwearing and the color payoff is super good. Even if you choose a lighter color like I did with this peachy one.

The Defining Blushes cost around 3,49 € and contain 5 g. I have the feeling I will never hit the pan because I only use a little bit at a time. Don't stir the brush in the pan because then you have way to much product on your brush ... like I did the first time xD

In the light it shimmers golden and give your cheeks a nice peachy golden glow.

I wasn't able to take a picture which shows the shimmer and the payoff at the same time so the first swatch pic *points up* shows the payoff and the second *points down* the golden shimmer (under sunlight, maybe hard to see under artificial light).

I think you can't go wrong with the Defining Blushes from Catrice. They are cheap and have a good quality.

Maybelline: Color Sensational The Shine 175

A while ago i bought this Maybelline Lipstick in 175 Raspberry Diamonds.

I damaged the packaging because there was sticky tape around the bottom and when I tried to remove it, I removed everything else (namely the silver color on the bottom) with it.

The packaging is really cute and sparkling =D

Well of to the inside...

The color is a red/brown mixed with a bit of pink and has relatively
large glitter particles in it. I made a ton of pictures but i can't seem to catch the real color of it.

It is not opaque but it gives a really nice color to your lips .... and a lot of shine. It do think that it looks a bit like diamond dust because there is a ton of glitter in it but you don't feel the glitter particles much on your lips. This lipstick does not dry out your lips and gives a nice moist feeling and lasts for about 2 hours or so. The Price is around 7 to 10 € (depends on where you buy it).

Etude House: Sweet Eye Cupcake #3 Peach & Honey

Hey there ;D

I am a really a big fan of asian cosmetics, so i try out a lot of things. A while ago i purchased on eBay an eyeshadow duo from Etude House ... and well as always the packaging was at fault xD.

I choose the color #Peach & Honey because i didn't have a similar eyeshadow in my collection and I am on kind of a peach trip at the moment. I paid around 6€, shipped from South Korea and shipping included.

The black ring inside the package i find rather ugly oO silver would have been a better choice, but oh well~

I always use a primer or a base under it so i can't say anything about the lasting power of this eyeshadow. The colors are a bit on the sheer side and don't have the soft texture I normaly prefer. The vanilla one is a bit more glittery than the peach one, what I like because I have a similiar color but without any glitter or shimmer.

Overall I am satisfied with what I got, but I don't think that I will get more of those, because there are better eyeshadows out there. If you also want to try them out you can get them HERE

Review: P2 eye primer pencil

Hello everyone.

My first review here and before I review the item I want to talk about this topic, because I had some problems in the last few years. I always searched for a good and long-lasting eyeshadow base. I tried some other cheap products from Catrice and Essence before (I tried them before I became vegan), but always ended up dissapointed. Everytime I used these products a few hours later the eyeshadow gather in my eyelid crease and so I thought that using these products was just a waste of time and money... I went back to my old habits in fixing the eyeshadow with hairspray when going out and proceeded in not wearing eyeshadow at work . ^^"

After the "I feel pretty" LE was announced by P2 and I got a glimpse of the products and thought to myself that I wanted to give it a try again, cause all my dear co-authors were rather happy with their eyeshadow base products. So I went to buy the eye primer pencil beyond beauty.

Product name: beyond beauty eye primer pencil
Brand: P2
Color: 010 flawless
Price: 2,85€
Facts: It's possible to sharpen the pencil with a pencil sharpener for thick pencils. I tried to take pictures of the color on my skin, but the swatch was hardly visible on my skin. The pencil is vegan.

Today I made some pictures of my makeup in the evening. I put it on at 06:40 AM in the morning and took the photo at 08:00 PM in the evening. You can see that there is not much eyeshadow gathered in my eyelid crease after over 12 hours of wearing. I didn't correct or fix anything during work, cause of my laziness and having too much to do at work (and I also don't want to carry my whole make-up products around with me :P).

Conclusion: I'm quite happy about how this purchase turned out this time. It also seems that it's not necessary to put a lot of the product on the eyes to get the eyeshadow longlasting enough. What I like the most about this product is the color boost of the eyeshadow (the colors were a light grey and violet). What I will rate in the next few weeks is the durability during "extreme" conditions (when I go out with my girls for dancing).

Rating: 4/5
Minus 1 point, cause a small amount of the eyeshadow gathered in my eyelid crease after all.
